A platform for more than 70,000 radio stations
Live Radio Stations lets listeners find and play radio stations from around the world. We built the platform on WordPress from the client's design, with station data collected automatically from public radio directories.

The problem
A radio directory is only useful if it is complete and the stream keeps playing.
The platform needed tens of thousands of stations with the right country, city, language and genre, a player that never stops while people browse, and stations that matter to where each listener is.
What we built
We built the platform on WordPress from the client's design, with pages by country, city, language and genre, a page for every station, a blog and a contact page. The audio player keeps playing while listeners move through the site, and geolocation puts stations from the listener's area first.
Python scripts collect station data from several public radio directories into the platform's database. In the admin, a searchable list fills in a station's details from that database, and listeners can suggest new stations through a form.
Listeners save favorite stations without an account, switch to dark mode and use the site in English, Spanish, German, French or Italian. Listening statistics show each station's audience by week, month, year and all time, with live listener counts and charts. We also set up a second site on the same platform with its own texts and images.
The result
Listeners find and play stations from anywhere in a few clicks, and the client runs two radio sites from one platform whose data fills itself in.
